Columbus Day
Columbus Day is a public holiday across most of the US on the second Monday of October, and falls next on 13th October 2025. Originally declared a formal holiday in 1937, it was established to mark the arrival of Italian explorer Christopher Columbus in Hispaniola in 1492 and in some states is marked by parades and celebrations. It is a contraversial holiday, however, and not all states recognise it. If yours does, you might be lucky enough to get a day off work and school.
