It's easy to take the familiar designs of tartan for granted, but when you stop and think about how they are created, it is fascinating to see the warp and weft threads crossing over each other and creating squares of different repeating colours within the patterns. use these quite tricky worksheets and colouring pages to get to grips with how the designs work and have a go at creating your own. Of course you can just enjoy the colouring pages by letting the kids do whatever they want and see what happens!
