If the Tudor's had celebrities, then Sir Walter Raleigh was definitely a celebrity! Rising to stardom under Queen Elizabeth I, he made himself a fortune and a fine reputation ... and then lost both. Along the way he risked the Queen's wrath to marry his one true love and ended up in the Tower of London for it, and founded - and lost - a colony. He wrote histories and poetry, explored countries, won gold and fought sea battles. What a fabulous man and what an interesting story to discover with the kids!
