Our "famous person" this week is the well-loved and much admired female author Mary Ann Evans, who is of course always known by her pen name, George Eliot. We've learned a little about her life this week, putting together a short biography and activities to suit a range of ages. And this week we have also provided a worksheet on why female authors have wanted or needed to take male pen names, and also one about what makes a great novel, jumping off from the fact that Middlemarch, one of George Eliot's novels, has been described as the greatest English novel of all time.
